Review: Elephant Milki Blue Track Wireless Laser Mouse (ELE-M516)

I'm not sure what confuses me more: the fact that this adorable piece of technology comes in a milk carton or that the underside of the mouse has Domo's face on it. To preserve Domo's true colours, I decided to go with the chocolate mouse.

Why did I pick this up? I go through mice like no other, so I figured I might as well buy cheap ones. My previous mice (Gigabyte M7700 and the Tron Mouse) were disappointments because they really did not last long with regular usage. Mind you, I'm not rough with my mice (unless you count aggressive League clicking) -- all I do is click and slide it around. Also, do keep in mind that this review was written by someone who isn't a tech geek and who has only used this mouse for two weeks. The mouse cost me $13.99 CAD and I picked it up at my local Canada Computers.

Design
Aesthetics: The mouse is aesthetically very pleasing. Its smooth surfaces and ergonomic shape are just a pleasure to hold onto. For additional grip, the sides of the mouse have crosshatching. On the left side of the mouse you will find forward and backward keys where your right thumb rests. That being said, this mouse looks and feels like one for an ambidextrous person -- in other words, if you're a lefty it should work for you too! In addition to the forward backward buttons, there's also a button that adjusts DPI located beneath the scroll. The mouse itself is silent. The scrolling and clicks are barely audible.

Packaging: As mentioned earlier, one of my primary reasons for picking this up was the packaging -- as a marketing student I love novel packaging. The milk carton was really no exception and was able to quickly grab my attention at the store. The Domo face actually surprised me because nowhere on the box did it actually mention or show a photo of him. The mouse also comes with 2 triple A batteries, so you don't have to go scavenging your sofas for any in your house.

Portability: In terms of portability, the wireless mouse comes with a USB dongle that can be easily stored on the underside of the mouse like most wireless mice. The problem with this mouse in particular is that it doesn't fit very well into the hole (thats what she said) and the dongle doesn't snap into place securely (thats what she said...? LOL). Other than that, the mouse is a good size and very portable.

Performance

I'm not a tech geek, so I really can't say much about its actual performance as a mouse. It's a wireless laser mouse and functions with a flickering blue light. It works! The mouse makes the cursor travel smoothly across the screen and I haven't had any connectivity problems with the USB dongle. If you have any additional questions, I would love to answer them in the comments below. :)

Art

As noted on my contact page, I also go by the username "winnster" online. One of my more popular pages on the web would be my DeviantArt page. Feel free to take a look around my DeviantArt gallery -- its like a blast from the past since I don't really update as often anymore. Since this is my first blog that I am going to be fully committed to, I thought hey why not share my life story with you piece by piece. The first piece of the puzzled picture is art.

Art has been a huge part of my life. It's a part of my identity as a person and something that I genuinely love. It's also not something unusual in my family. My father, an engineer, loves to paint. In my grandma's house and throughout my current house, his paintings still hang on our walls. We're both self-taught artists who just happen to share the same hobbies and passions: art. The difference in our art are medium and subject. I like to paint, yes, but i like to paint digitally on the computer. He likes to paint landscape, but I love to paint portraits of people and animals.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so let's let the pictures do all the talking:

Thanks for reading yet another random ramble! :)

Clean Canvas (An Introduction)

I was once an avid blogger. I was the kind of person who blogged about things that didn't matter, regularly, and on a daily basis. I stopped doing so a long time ago and consequently forgot the username/password to my old account that I started several years ago... so here I am. New blog, clean canvas.

I'll be posting my random thoughts and musings on here: mainly being anything art, beauty and fashion related.

I apologize in advance if I bore you.
